It seems that everybody was into the independence spirit this July 9th, even beyond the limits of Argentina. Whether it was going hog wild on some good ole fashioned locro or taking selfies wearing a Los Pumas jersey while the 9 de Julio parade strolled by your window in Palermo (like a certain US ambassador), it seemed everybody was in on the patriotic fun.
Which brings us to the tallest building in the world and occasional Mission Impossible prop, Burj Khalifa. At 8:25 PM Dubai time, the famous skyscraper went full albiceleste as part of an initiative organized by the Argentine Embassy in United Arab Emirates.
Although for some reason most pics of the event are pretty crappy (seriously people in Dubai, what was up with your smartphones yesterday?) there were a couple of decent videos, including the one below, shared by Argentine Minister of Foreign Affairs Jorge Faurie on Twitter. The text reads: “The Argentine flag shines at Burj Khalifa in Dubai, the largest skyscraper in the world. Thanks UAE for this magnificent homage to our independence,” followed by two flag emojis that I guess make him look cool with the young kids or something.

Here’s another cool one by journalist Antonio Laje which shows the exact moment in which it lights up. I recommend you turn your volume up for this one so you can really appreciate the “oooohhs” and “aaaahhs”
