Want To Buy A Smartphone For AR$1? Get To Downtown BA On Friday

Think twice before buying your next empanada because it could cost more than your next smartphone. As a promotion for its latest store opening in downtown Buenos Aires, Huawei will be selling 300 Y6 Smartphones for the reasonable sum of AR$1. Yes, that’s right — one measly peso.

Sound good? Of course. “This current promotion is simple, come and buy a phone for 1 peso, it’s as easy as that”  said Rodrigo Ubeda, regional marketing director of Huawei for Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay.

Well, not quite, Rodrigo. Truth is, it won’t be easy to get your hands on one of these bad boys. These are the steps you need to follow if you want to be one of the lucky 300:

Step 1: You must be over 18 and provide DNI.

Step 2: Register online starting tomorrow to receive a special code.

Step 3: Get to the store on Lavalle and Florida Friday, with plenty of time, lots of patience and all the adequate documentation.

This is part of a new promotional campaign. The company stands as third in the world of leading Smartphone manufacturers.  The Argentine branch of Huawei was founded in 2001, and has more than 500 employees, 70 percent of which are Argentine.

For all you tech-heads out there: The Y6 has a 5inch HD screen, 8MP camera, Snapdragon 210 chip, 1 GB of RAM, 4G connectivity and a 2200 mAp battery. At its usual price, you’ll be set back around AR$4000.
