Results are in for the Argentine Under 20 national team’s group in the upcoming World Cup that will kick off in South Korea on May 20th, and it’s not going to be a walk in the park.
With eager eyes watching, it was revealed that the Argentine team is in Group A alongside England, Guinea and tournament hosts, South Korea (Korea Republic). Footballing legend Diego Maradona and national team veteran Pablo Aimar were part of the drawing ceremony, if you want to place the blame of getting a tough group on someone.
“What a draw for Argentina! We have some tough matches ahead, including a duel against the hosts. It will be an exciting game in front of the local fans,” said Maradona.
Argentina barely made it to the tournament. After scraping through the qualifiers, it only secured the last spot for South American teams in the competition by beating Colombia and because Brazil failed to win its last match.
Here are all of the groups and competing teams:
Coach Claudio Úbeda’s squad will be facing England on the May 20th, Korea Republic on May 23rd and will close their group stage against Guinea on May 26th. Having won the championship for the last time ten years ago, Argentina will definitely have to step up its game if it wants to recreate the success of the national team that back then was led by no other than Sergio “Kun” Aguero.
