The Casa Rosada Flooded

Whoever said the National Government is incapable of being empathetic, has no idea what they are talking about. This morning, as many homes and businesses throughout the city fell victim of a short-lived deluge, the Casa Rosada (or “Pink House” if you like) joined the long list of facilities affected by the vengeful rage of Mother Nature and saw its beautiful Salón de los Patriotas (Hall of the Patriots) collapse under the 50 millimeters of rain that devastated the city in 20 minutes.

OK, it didn’t collapse, it just got wet. But still, man! This is the presidential palace we’re talking about. According to Casa Rosada sources, such an unusual situation had not taken place since 1983. Government staff working in the building at the time of the flood said the Hall of the Patriots “had been turned into a reflecting pool.”

As we all expect it, the Anti-K media covered the news with an underlying “this is Cristina’s fault too” tone, while the Pro-K media wondered where Mayor Macri was during this storm of biblical proportions.

The sky over Buenos Aires turned pitch black this morning and soon heavy rains and hail were affecting the City and several Greater Buenos Aires areas. We could end it the easy way and conclude this piece with a joke involving Cristina and something about her expensive Louboutin shoes getting wet, but we just couldn’t make it work. So there, no punch line.

Deal with it.
