Tomorrow – Thursday, November 6th the ferociously talented Fifí Tango will be performing their last show of the year, and promise include your favorite tango songs from the ‘40s and ’50s such as “Dímelo al Oído”, “Se Dice de Mi” (also the best song to get in touch with your inner Argentine drag queen), “Mama Yo Quiero un Novio”, and, “Uno” as well as some more contemporary hits. Before you start yawning at your desk note that this isn’t just your grandpa’s milonga (unless your gramps was a bit light in his loafers in which case this is most definitely his type of tango show). Moisés Delgado and Rodrigo Peiretti, the creators of Fifí Tango, are known for presenting traditional tango music with a twist (just the way we like it).
The group revamps beloved tango anthems making them inclusive and accessible to every nostolgia addict along the gender and sexuality spectrum. The way they see it the concept “is simple: to present the musical world of tango with a different approach and a lot of humor”.
If an evening of non-gendered, non-oppressive music sounds like your cup of tea then stop by Iavaca-MU (Hipolito Yrigoyen 1440) tomorrow at 8:30 PM. The entrance is free and also includes access to both the show and the gallery. There’s also a bar with food and drinks (which Fifí promises are affordable!) if you want to make it a full evening affair. Accessible bus lines include the 37, 39, 59, and 60 or Subte Lines A (Saenz Peña stop) or C (Av. De Mayo stop). For more information, check out the Facebook event here.
