These days, Korea is having what we’d like to call a *moment.* With everything from cosmetics – snail mucus cream, anyone? – to music, Korean culture has made its way into the western mainstream and is officially here to stay. Of course, one of the best things about a country is its cuisine, local flavors and traditions, and having the chance to dive in and try them for yourself. Which is why you should mark you calendars, because starting on Tuesday, April 9th, the 5th annual Korean Culinary Festival will be taking place right here in Buenos Aires.

Hosted by the Korean Cultural Center – which recently moved into its posh new digs just steps from Plaza San Martín – the event will feature stands from select Korean restaurants from around the city (AZIT Chickenbar, Doquevi, Fa-song-song, Mr. Ho, and NEO GEO) as well as other distributors offering typical food and drinks from Korea. What’s more, nothing will cost more than AR $150 a dish, making it a very budget-friendly outing. Given that you’ll also save yourself the cab fare to and from Bajo Flores to snag those authentic flavors, it’s a win-win situation.

If you’re unable to make it to Tuesday’s kick-off, not to worry. From Thursday, April 11th through Saturday the 13th, the St. Regis restaurant at the Park Tower hotel in Retiro is pulling out all the stops with a three-day Korean buffet extravaganza. Prestigious Chef Gwangho Choi is at the helm of the operation, planning an abundant and indulgent buffet-style menu that promises to showcase the best of Korea’s culinary traditions. Fun fact: Chef Choi won Master Chef Korea in 2014, so maybe catch up on some episodes on YouTube before you head on down. Choi is supported by assistant and food stylist Areumi Lee, who has been on several Korean television shows as well.

Drooling at the thought of diving head-first into a kimchi, bulgogi, bibimbap, and soju overdose? Check out all of the information on the Korean Culinary Festival below.
