See? Whenever we say you have to be very careful when walking/riding your bike around La Boca, we’re not fucking kidding.

Alexander Hennesy is an American a Canadian tourist who was visiting Buenos Aires, and while riding his bike down the bike lane in La Boca he was cut off by a motochorro who pulled out a gun and ordered him to give him his backpack.

The entire incident was perfectly caught by the GoPro camera he was wearing on his helmet and it’s as terrifying as you can imagine.

In the video, Henessy – who doesn’t seem to understand Spanish – thinks that the mugger is after his bike and keeps saying “Amigo, no…” (pretty much what many of us would say as an instinct) and drops his bike and runs away, eventually making it to safety.

On his YouTube channel, the victim explains the ordeal:

I was on a bike tour in a rough part of Buenos Aires (Argentina) in broad daylight when a thief attempted to steal my camera gear at gunpoint. I miraculously happened to be recording with a gopro on my forehead and captured this amazing piece of footage!!

According to the local media, the story had a happy ending since thanks to the footage the police was able to identify the thief.

You have to be careful in all areas of Buenos Aires – it is a big city after all. But when we say that there are some areas in which you have to be even more careful, we mean it.

[UPDATE] Despite earlier reports that the robber had been arrested, the police never apprehended him and Henessy allegedly decided not to press charges. Clarín is now reporting that the motorcycle’s owner has been identified and they are looking into the case.
