Donald Trump may think he’s the greatest businessman to ever walk the earth, but it turns out he’d actually be a cracking football manager as well.
Using his now infamous “We Need To Build A Wall” speech, sports network TyC has created quite possibly the best ad of all time with Trump well and truly spoofed to make it sound like he’s giving a half-time talk. Trump may have stopped being funny a long time ago, but this ad is truly brilliant. Move over, Don Draper.
The US does have something to be scared of. And it definitely isn’t border-hopping Mexicans.
It’s La Selección.
“We have people coming through the border that are not people we want,” Trump preaches as images of PabZab, Leo Messi and Javier Mascherano are shown disembarking a plane. “These are total killers,” he continues as Ángel Di María is shown smashing a goal home.
“These are not the nice, sweet, little people you think…” with Leo Messi staring down the barrel of the camera.
To be fair, we knew that one. We’ve all heard about his tax arrangements.
The metaphor continues, culminating in the oft-repeated line “we need to build a wall.”
The Copa América Centenario kicks off in the United States on June 3rd, with Argentina’s first game on June 6th in Santa Clara, California – against, yep you guessed it, Chile. The rest of the group consists of Bolivia and Panama.
It isn’t the first time this week that Argentina’s been able to laugh at Trump’s expense, with US President Barack Obama mocking his foreign policy experience by saying “he has spent years meeting with leaders from around the world: Miss Sweden, Miss Argentina, Miss Azerbaijan.”
