Vice-President and tuxedo-wearing rock star Amado Boudou was booed by the Dutch-Argentine community this morning during a special breakfast hosted by the Dutch Embassy in the Palermo Hipódromo, to celebrate the coronation of Máxima Zorreguieta as the new Queen of the Netherlands.
Nah, it’s fine because he’s currently in Amsterdam attending the ceremony on behalf of Cristina so he never found out (although Clarín certainly gave it enough prominence on its front page), but while everyone was munching on ontbijtkoek and beschuit, as soon as stepped on the red carpet and his shiny grin showed up on the giant screen, the crowd apparently exploded, whistling and booing him to express their discontent with the Veep, whose popularity took a tumble in the last twelve months after he was allegedly involved in an influence-peddling scandal.
Most of the attendees were diplomats and members of the Dutch-Argentine community who had been invited by the embassy to enjoy the coronation live. Boudou flew to Amsterdam this week along with Beatriz Rojkés de Alperovich, Provisional President of the Senate and third in Argentina’s line of succession.
If it’s any consolation, at least this time he kept his pants on.
And yes, we’re pretty sure nobody was saying “Boo-dou! Boo-dou!”.
Or “Boo-urns” for that matter.
