Time to double check those dollar bills. The US government recently sent Federal Reserve representatives to Argentina to train law enforcement and banks employees on how to detect counterfeit bills.

“Feel to the touch, tilt the paper in different directions and hold in the light to see the embedded security thread” said Michael Lambert, a representative from the Federal Reserve.

Here’s a video from the US government website:

“The Federal Reserve has a dollar education program throughout the world. In this case we have gone to Argentina to assist people and help in the matter” said Lambert.

“In general we have seen very positive feedback from the courses…they feature a range from the simplest examples up to the most sophisticated ones” added Lambert.

While Argentina isn’t awash with fake dollars, the training serves as a good reminder to double check where you get your dollars from.
