If you’re one of the lucky (or unlucky, depending on where you stand) few who get to spend the holidays in Punta del Este, at least now you know you have options when it’s time to go home after a night of partying at the beach. Starting today, Uber has become operational in Uruguay’s most popular coastal resort.
The ride-sharing app began working today in Punta at 4 PM, Uber CEO for the Southern Cone Mariano Otero said. Considering the large amount of tourists that arrive in Punta del Este every year for the holidays, this is probably the perfect time to do so. Nobody wants to miss the parties there, especially the traditional “all white” parties that so many love and so many others love to hate. And if you’ve ever had to take a cab or a remis at 6 AM to go back to the place you’re renting with your friends and/or family there, you’ll know it ain’t cheap.
At least now it doesn’t matter if you’re staying in La Barra, downtown Punta or right there at the beach with your tent, you will now be able to at least know how much you’ll be paying before hand.
Uber is already fully operational in Montevideo.
