We’ve almost made it, y’all! It’s the last day of February, meaning our days of living and working in roughly the same climate as the inside of a human mouth are once again fading into our collectively damp memory. I even saw some leaves fall off a tree yesterday. It’s all happening! Let us distract ourselves from the fact that time is passing and we’re getting older (yes, even YOU, eternally youthful study abroad student) with an amazing lineup of live shows this week, from cumbia to folk to punk and so, so much more.

Curated by musician Julian Desbats, Romancia is a romance-themed concert series that take place every Wednesday in Almagro during all of February. On its fourth and final edition, Julian’s full band will be joined by punk band/alcoholics Krupoviesa and cumbia act El Caso Marina Peque, for an eclectic tripleheader that has a little bit (or maybe a little bit too much) of something for everyone.

Thursday March 1
The legendary Scottish band lead by Bobby Gillespie will be playing songs off their latest LP ‘Chaosmosis’, as well as classic songs from their extensive, decade-spanning career.

Do you ever miss playing songs in a circle during summer camp? If the answer is yes, then this is as close as you’re gonna get this weekend. Experimental folk trio Bestia Música (comprised of Vero Gerez, Paloma Iturri, and Sofi Roma) will be playing an intimate, circular show at the lovely Xirgu Espacio Untref.

Even though summer is slowly starting to fade away, don’t put away your hawaiian shirt just yet. Punk rock band Calma Isabel, instrumental surf rock band Beach Breakers, and sunny punk pop band Chamacos will be keeping the beachy vibes alive, at least for this weekend, at POMO.

For its first summery edition of the year, Cactus Música arrives to Casa Colombo – Cantina Club with a diverse selection of bands to spice up your Friday. This time, the line up consists of indie dance rock band Cuerpo, cerebral synth pop band Auricular, and folk act Frank Berlín & Los Poetas Malditos. There will also by a live set by DJ Federico Martínez Penna, as well as record and merchandising stands.

During the month of March, concert series Chicas de Fuego will be showcasing and celebrating indie rock’s best female talents in an open air show at C. C. Recoleta. For its first edition, curator Albina Cabrera has picked Mora Riel (Riel) and Priscila Rauto (Las Bermudas) to play two free acoustic live shows in the lovely Patio de Los Naranjos. There will also be a DJ set by Malén Denis, record stands, and much more.

F.A.R and Dj Kadabra will be behind the turntables playing some future funk and other stuff kids are listening nowadays.

Festival Pulso Emergente is a concert series whose main aim is to shine a light on up and coming, like-minded artists in the underground music scene. This time around, experimental stoner rock act Hombre de Otro Plano, hard rock band Curandero, alternative rock outfit RUNA, and psychedelic stoner combo Los Jíbaros will all be playing live in an evening that will surely be full of horn hand signs, power chords, and a plethora of Marshall amps stacked on top of each other.
