Hello chickadees! There is so much live music to get to this week, so I’m going to keep the formalities short and sweet.
Also, now’s your chance to troll me back if you feel snubbed or slighted by my coverage in the past because my band Fervors released our new single today. Was that shameless self-promotion? Yes, but I’m nothing if not transparent. I am not a subtle person.
Now, let the bands play!
The live music series is ending 2016 on a high note with an art and photography exhibition, record sale, fanzines and more (last minute christmas gifts, anyone?). Performing live are La Gran Perdida de Energia (post rock), Césped (psychedelic pop), Pyramides (dreampop), and Bautista Viajando (alt. rock)

Calma Isabel is back for more, and with none of that acoustic nonsense this time. Drawing on influences like the Ramones, Pixies, Fun People, The Clash, and a little bit of Weezer, the punk band is the perfect show for keeping your pogo game on point.

The sweet-as-honey, Caballito-based indie rock band is gracing us with one last show for 2016, this time presenting an advanced single from their forthcoming sophomore album. Perfect for fans of Apples in Stereo, Belle & Sebastian, and El Mato. Joining them onstage: Super 1 Mundial (tagline: radioactive synthesizers, golden-age guitars, and drums from the apocalypse) and Tani (tagline: naive and honest pop).
“This has all been very good and well, but we need a big nap in the sun with our families and dogs, in the pastures and pools, just like any of y’all” is the sign-off for the lovely people of indie rock band Mi Amigo Invencible, and Morbo y Mambo. Head on down to San Telmo this Thursday night for one last fantastic double-header of a show, and do your part to celebrate the coming new year (it’s going to be better. IT HAS TO BE).

The long-time legends of the Buenos Aires underground rock scene return for a live show at Vorterix this Friday night. Widely respected for their extremely impressive discography (fourteen albums) and being relevant on the scene since 1993, you can expect a hell of a show – these fellas are more than masters of their craft after all these years.
Looking for something a little bit more low-key? The incredibly talented Karina Vismara returns to Buenos Aires for an intimate show at Nuñez watering hole POE, this time joined by Jonah Schwartz on banjo and mandolin. Considering it’s free and the last show until January, it would be a damn shame to miss it.
Live music series and Naranja Verde devotees Buencebú celebrates 2 years of performances by great local bands with one last show for the year. Vlad Tepes (proggy jazz), Flores de Sinaloa (acid folk) and Nuvem Leopardo (think Black Sabbath with a touch of Tropocalia) play.

Need a Christmas jingle fix? Look no further than the festive set promised by Americana/folk rock band The Monkeyness and lady country quartet Holy Cows, who will be presenting holiday carols and a healthy helping of country/folk rock this Saturday night at El Universal.
