If you planning on using the Subte this weekend, be aware that the B Line will remain out of service from tonight to Monday morning. The reason? To bring in the new air-conditioned subway cars!

Yes, after spending endless hours of summer inside those crowded, sticky sardine cans, Subterráneos de Buenos Aires is finally bringing in 86 new Spanish CAF cars, purchased from Madrid’s Metro last year.

I mean, “new” for us, because they have been in use for 14 years, but you know what I mean. We don’t have money for new stuff. And each one of these cars cost over 382,000 Euros, so you better not trash them or spray paint them.

They fit 193 passengers each.

Apparently, starting this month, the D Line will also add 12 new cars with AC. And if you use the C Line, you’re also in luck, because it’s your turn next month.

Suck it, summer!
