The Government announced today that the SUBE card will now cost AR$ 25, an increase of five pesos, or 25 percent if you want to get your math on, so it’s bad news if you’ve lost it, or indeed if you don’t have one.

This is the third price hike since a charge was introduced in 2012. Cue angry fist waving and grumbling.

When the SUBE was first introduced in 2008, it was free (yay) in order to encourage people to use it. Then it was priced at AR$10 at the start of 2012. And then at AR$15 in July of that year. And then at AR$20 in November 2014.

What is this world coming to, really.

Don’t worry though, the fare you pay for each journey using your SUBE hasn’t changed. Yet.
