Starbucks lovers, take a deep breath. On Wednesday, the Argentine branch officially launched the Rewards card with a decent amount of fanfare and social media buzz.
The card, available only since yesterday, works as a prepayment system for the goods and services available at Starbucks stores. At the same time, for every AR $15 you spend, you’ll get a star. The more stars you collect, the more benefits you get. For example, only by registering, you’ll receive a free drink on your birthday — which if you are from the imperial evil epicenter of the USA you might say that is already the case – but alas no. Regular customers don’t get a free drink on their birthdays here.
“We know our clients look for a bonus and an unique experience, so we believe Starbucks Rewards is the best way to improve the relationship with them,” says Pablo Jaratz, CEO of Starbucks Argentina. “Rewards will help us communicate and reward our most loyal clients. The programme will help us connect with them as never before.”
Hurry up if you want it! Just because it’s a new feature, Starbucks gives a free drink for those who sign up before May 15th. To get one, you have to register online and then, with your ID, go to a Starbucks coffee to choose your favorite design and activate it with a minium charge of AR $100. Easy peasy.
Starbucks currently has 111 stores spread in four Argentine provinces.
Stop fighting it. Give into those free market cravings.
