Daniel Osvaldo found himself in hot water after he was discovered smoking a cigarette in the changing rooms after Boca Junior’s 1-1 draw with Uruguayan team Nacional in the Copa Libertadores quarter finals.

Well, more than hot water actually. The club terminated his contract today after Boca boss Guillermo Barros Schelotto apparently lost his shit after finding the Italy forward smoking after playing the final five minutes in Uruguay yesterday.

Osvaldo has never really given much of a fuck, it’s fair to say, and he doesn’t appear to care about cigarette prices or his career much at all really.

After playing just 300 minutes for this year for the club, Osvaldo’s Boca career is now over, up in smoke you might say, and it was rather dreadful from start to finish.

Having spent most of his time out of the team due to a massive cocaine habit injuries, Osvaldo featured yesterday in the final five minutes of the fixture, but headed straight down the tunnel after the final whistle instead of applauding the traveling faithful.

He was followed quickly by his manager, and the pair apparently had a bust up in the changing room. Schelotto informed the club he had no intention of working with the former Roma and Juventus striker, who was put out of the job today with immediate effect.

Osvaldo’s antics overshadowed Boca’s hard work on the pitch, which is now in a strong position as it faces Nacional in the return fixture at the Bombonera next Thursday.

Boca fullback Frank Fabra’s excellent 70th minute strike was canceled out six minutes later by Uruguayan striker Sebastián Fernández, who took a sweet half-volley on the turn and found the corner of the net.

Boca enjoyed 10 percent more possession but managed to muster just one shot on target in a fairly even encounter in Montevideo, but the return leg in Buenos Aires is a solid opportunity for Boca to reach the semis which would certainly help gloss over a dismally average domestic campaign.
