The burgers are back — and everywhere if you live in Buenos Aires. Porteños have taken a particular liking to this classically American dish, with festivals and beer and burger joints popping up all over the place. However, the burger still faces fierce competition from choripanes, the national sausage sandwich, which some locals are fighting to put back in the spotlight.
The Chori Urban Festival, the first of its kind, will take place in Almagro on February 3rd at Konex Cultural City. The event offers a closer look at Argentina’s flagship sandwich, which is on track to become one of the biggest gastronomic trends of 2017.
Between the hours of 5 PM to 11.30 PM you can try out every kind of chorizo you could ever imagine. And more. Including, but not limited to, chorizos de autor, which is carefully crafted using a variety of unique techniques, recipes and ingredients. Also up for grabs are delicious appetizers, local meats, and the classic pork sausage itself, with wine and beer to help wash it all down. There are charcuterie and deboning tutorials to see how the experts do it — as well as live performances from rock bands — and a host of other surprises for all you choripán lovers out there.
