Since the polls closed at 6 PM, local networks have been speculating on the results of the presidential election today.
Cable news networks like C5N, a pro-administration channel, has already called the election in favor of FpV candidate, Daniel Scioli. The question now, of course, is whether or not Scioli, whom in all likelihood earned the highest amount of votes, will finish with a large enough margin to win the Argentine presidency or if there will be a runoff with Mauricio Macri, the Cambiemos candidate.
Marcos Peña, secretary of the City Government and Macri’s campaign manager, claimed a few minutes agi that it will most definitely be the latter.
“There will be a runoff in Argentina,” said Peña. “That’s the main message that we want to convey.”
According to Peña the margin between Scioli and Macri is already smaller than it was after the August primary.
“This historic moment gives us joy,” added the secretary.
