This morning, Argentine President Mauricio Macri arrived in Hamburg, Germany for the annual G20 summit, the largest international forum for discourse on financial stability. He is representing Mercosur while negotiating agreements with the European Union. Additionally, he plans to discuss next year’s pro tempore presidency of the Mercosur trading block, which will change hands from Macri on December 1.

Macri traveled with his wife, Juliana Awada, who will meet with her counterparts during the summit.

Later today, Macri will attend the Global Citizen music festival, an event to raise awareness among world leaders the need to fight global poverty through education. He will meet with artists like Coldplay’s Chris Martin, Shakira, and Demi Lovato, then give a speech to the 14,000 people in attendance.

Tomorrow, Macri will meet with French President Emmanuel Macron. Additionally, he must attend the summit’s first two plenary sessions, which will target global trade and sustainable development.

US President Donald Trump has not arrived at the G20 summit yet, but protests against his anticipated attendance — and that of Russian President Vladimir Putin — have already begun.
