Donald Trump’s rhetoric seems to be reaching new shores. His particular brand of protectionism and border control seems to have made it all the way to The Malvinas. And now, it looks like he’s not the only one looking to build a wall. After Trump signed an order to start the construction of a wall on the border of the US and Mexico, some inhabitants of Las Malvinas have begun asking for a wall of their own.

A group on Twitter who claims to defend the islands as territory of the United Kingdom tweeted out the following to Prime Minister, Theresa May:

But they took their comments further and said they would pay for the cost themselves, claiming that even if the wall was built, Argentina wouldn’t be able to afford it. Ouch.

The tongue-and-cheek tweets definitely sound like something Donald Trump would say but are (not surprisingly) falling flat with many Argentines and are probably not helping Argentina and the United Kingdom improve their diplomatic relationship.
