In a ceremony held in front of the Flag Memorial in Rosario, President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner unveiled the new redesigned 10-peso bill, which besides including forefather Manuel Belgrano in military uniform, it also includes heroine Juana Azurduy and Pedro Ríos, AKA “the Tacuarí Drummer Boy,” and a scene from first pledge to the flag.

The bill also features a laurel wreath – symbolizing freedom – a cockade and the Sol de Mayo, one of Argentina’s national emblems.

The announcer said the new bill is the way of “honoring a civilian who knew how to lead a military army, a politician who knew that there is no better citizen than the one who sacrifices their comforts for the sake of their country.”
