President-elect Mauricio Macri received a letter from German Chancellor Angela Merkel expressing her “heartfelt congratulations” on his victory in the runoff. Merkel expressed her hopes to “strengthen cooperation in all fields” between the two countries with the new Argentine government.
“Our countries have always been closely linked. Our cooperation in science and research, in particular, has become one of the pillars of our relationship,” said Merkel in the short congrats letter to Macri.
“I also celebrate our successful cooperation in all areas and I would be happy to welcome you to Germany,” Merkel said, and concluded: “I wish you the best energy in your presidency and successful management full of the good luck that one always it needs.”
